By George, that's a good way to exact revenge on a boss who snubbed you

GEORGE HIRST was delighted to prove a point by helping Ipswich get all three against his former club.

The striker, 24, scored Town's third as Kieran McKenna's side edged a chaotic thriller to move up to second.

For Hirst it was a clash between two sides he joined on loan last season when he was still with Leicester. First he paired up with Blackburn, who negotiated a clause to buy at the end of the term. But, after just two Championship starts and no goals, he was jettisoned in January and Town made their move.

One promotion from League One later, and a permanent deal signed in the summer, Hirst couldn't be happier. And showing Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson he could actually thrive at this level was an added bonus.

He said: "It does make it a little bit sweeter. There were times at Rovers when I didn't play, probably because I wasn't good enough, and times when I felt I should have played.

"I don't feel any bad blood towards them, it's a lesson learned.
