PUNTERS who chill in their coats will get a 20% discount on food after a boozer said it will leave the heating off to save on energy bills.

Bosses at Doyle’s Corner pub announced the novel idea after blaming soaring costs on the rising price of coal.

The popular watering hole in Phibsborough, Dublin, has encouraged pub-goers to bring their coat with them and will leave the heating off for every Tuesday in October.

The pub’s co-owner Ronan Flood said: “Doyle’s Corner is a big listed building and it is really difficult to heat.

“This a promotion in which we are inviting our guests to ‘chill with us every Tuesday’ as we turn the heat down a little. In return for bringing your own coat, we are offering a 20% discount on the food bill.”

Mr Flood said he expects to see the pub packed on Tuesday night thanks to the plan.

He added: “We turned the heating on for the first time this week and a little piece of me died.
