THE Banshees of Inisherin left empty handed but the Irish were still the talk of the Oscars after picking up two gongs- and becoming the butt of host Jimmy Kimmel's limp one-liners.
Colin Farrell even called out Kimmel and US show Saturday Night Live's skit about him and his co-star Brendan Gleeson in an awkward encounter with the presenter.
The actor was full of smiles as he arrived at the 95th Academy Awards on Sunday, with his Banshees co-stars and his son, Henry, 13, as his date.
However, the star looked less than impressed later on, as the Irish became the butt of Kimmel's 'paddywhackery' jokes.
His monologue included lines like: "Five Irish actors are nominated tonight, which means the chances of a fight just went way up."
Later during a question and answers segment with the stars in the crowd, Kimmel read out a 'fan question from a viewer who said they loved the Dubliner's performance, but couldn't understand what he was saying.
Farrell, 46, who missed out on the Best Actor award for his role in the film, referenced a controversial SNL skit that aired the night before in response to the question.
He said: "Check out SNL last night and you will have a good idea. It comes as the US sketch show came under fire earlier in the day over a pre-Oscars skit mocking the award-winning actor and his co-star Gleeson.
