THE headline pay rate for the Ceann Comhairle is now higher than that of the Taoiseach after salary cuts imposed during the economic crash were reversed.
The Department of Public Expenditure confirmed the wage is €227,000, more than €10,000 higher than the top job and the second only to the President.
It also exceeds the Tanaiste's pay packet by over €27,000 and the wages of a minister by more than €43,000.
