Dad's anger as ramps removed where son died

A FATHER whose son was killed in a hit-and-run incident is furious after the council flattened speed ramps in his estate near where it happened.

Thomas Moloney Snr, who lives in Moyross in Limerick, said the speed ramps on the main road have been flattened since work started on one of the area’s housing projects.

He said he was told this was done in order to facilitate heavy goods vehicles using the building sites.

Mr Moloney’s youngest son Alan died, aged 11, after being knocked down by a car on the main road in 1995.

He later campaigned with the late Limerick TD Jim Kemmy to have speed ramps erected.

Mr. Moloney said: “At the moment, it’s a traffic black spot. It’s an accident waiting to happen.
