CANCER PATIENTS' 2-YEAR WAIT FOR ROUTINE TESTS

THE Irish Cancer Society says it is "concerned" people are waiting for up to two years for routine cancer genetic testing.

The National Cancer Control programme confirmed there are currently 2,955 patients on the cancer genetics waiting list awaiting appointment in St James's Hospital.

The details followed a parliamentary question from Social Democrats TD Catherine Murphy. The NCCP said another 236 patients, both adults and children, are on the cancer genetics waiting list in CHI at Crumlin.
