ELIGIBLE householders are in line for a €20,000 grant to insulate their homes from nighttime air traffic noise at Dublin airport.

It is one of a number of conditions attached to a planning decision to have operating restrictions on the new €320million runway lifted.

The runway is due to open to commercial air traffic next Wednesday.

In its decision, Fingal County Council has amended two conditions attached to the 2007 planning permission for the runway.

That put in place curtails on flights between 11pm and 7am.

The amendments would allow the DAA to use the new 3.1km runway between 6am and midnight.
