A BABY boy was the first tot born in 2023 – welcomed just three minutes into the New Year.
Proud new mum Lynn McDevitt from Terenure in Dublin called her first child Harry Denis McDevitt.
The tot, weighing 8lb 4oz, was named after his two grandfathers.
Lynn was initially induced after arriving at the National Maternity Hospital on Friday.
Harry was brought into the world with the help of his aunt Ciara McDevitt who was Lynn’s birthing partner.
Lynn, who will raise Harry by herself but with the support of family, said: “It’s all kind of surreal to be honest, the last 24 hours but it’s just like an extra little treat, I suppose. He’s such a miracle.
“I made the decision last year and once I kind of allowed myself to go for it, I haven’t looked back at all. So he was just a really wanted, really planned baby and this is just a lovely little extra.”
While her sister Ciara told RTE News: “It was such a privilege to be part of and to be present was amazing.”
Little Laura was the first baby born in 2023 at Dublin’s Rotunda Hospital. The tot came into the world at 12.47 to mum Anna Gec.
