4 FACING 332 CHARGES OF ANIMAL CRUELTY

FOUR people are to face trial on a combined total of 332 charges of animal cruelty, arising out of an investigation that led to the seizure of an array of creatures including tarantulas, a snake and a scorpion.

It follows an ongoing multi-agency investigation into the welfare of a total of 39 pedigree French bulldogs, English bulldogs and Dachshund dogs as well as a Cane Corso Italian mastiff and two British Shorthair cats.

The animals were allegedly found in inhumane living conditions between two apartments in the Citywest area of Dublin two years ago on December 1, 2021. Amongst the creatures also found on the day included tarantulas, parrots, a snake, a scorpion and even a millipede.

Tallaght District Court heard gardai are alleging the two apartments are considered one.
