The budgetary allocation for the Indian Railways in 2023-24 has also seen a jump of 48.6% from 21.6 lakh crore announced in the revised estimates of the ongoing financial year.
“A capital outlay of 22.40 lakh crore has been provided for the Railways. This is the highest outlay, about nine times the outlay made in 2013-14,” Sitharaman announced.
With more high-speed Vande Bharat trains set to hit the tracks, the allocation for track renewal was increased to 217,296.8 crore for the FY 2023-24 from 215,388.1 crore in the revised estimate for 2022-23.
