Over 100 events were organized by the Delhi government on the eve of Independence Day as part of the Centre's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign under which the state distributed 2.5 million flags in the city.
Kejriwal said that people would see the national flag everywhere they go in the city, and it will instill a sense of pride and patriotism in them, he said.
The Delhi chief minister said that while the country has made significant progress in the last 75 years, but still several nations have surpassed India.
"We should've been a world leader by now. 75 years ago, when Indians united with a resolve, they defeated the British colonisers. If we all unite once again, no one will be able to stop India from becoming the number one nation of the world," Kejriwal said.
The chief minister also spoke about the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters with special emphasis on Bhim Rao Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh.
