At least 11 people from Rajasthan, including a former legislator's nephew, a doctor's family, a newly married woman, three young businessmen, and chefs, died on Thursday after a London-bound Air India flight carrying 242 passengers crashed near the Ahmedabad airport minutes after taking off, said officials.
UDAIPUR/JAIPUR:
Of the 11 deceased, four each were from Udaipur and Banswara, and another from Balotra and Bikaner.
Khushboo Rajpurohit (22), a resident of Balotra's Arara village, was going to visit her husband (who is yet to be identified by the officials) in London for the first time since their marriage in January.
"Her husband is a medical researcher in London. He is based in Jodhpur's Luni. They got married in January only after which he left for London while Khushboo had been staying with her parents in Balotra. On Thursday, her father Madan Rajpurohit went to drop her at Ahmedabad airport where they also took a picture. Minutes after Madan left the airport and arrived in a local temple, the plane crashed and Madan got the news of her daughter's death," confirmed an official from the Balotra district collectorate.
