Energy Capital Partners offered 410p per share for the High Wycombe-based recycling firm, an offer recommended by Biffa's board after talks between the companies lasting about three months.
The backing came even after the price was cut from an indicative 445p in an announcement about the start of talks. Biffa is the subject of an inquiry from HMRC relating to taxes paid on landfill.
