History buffs are in meltdown after members of the Rapid Support&nbsp;in Forces stormed a museum Khartoum housing bandaged bodies dating back to 2,500BC.
Museum chiefs have begged the revolutionaries not to harm the mummies.
Historians monitoring satellite pictures of the Sudan National Museum have already spotted damage in an area which has seen fierce fighting.
Roxanne Trioux, part of a French archaeological team in Sudan, said satellite images show damage outside the museum, adding: "We don't know the extent of damage inside."
A video posted online appears to show a lab with soldiers sifting through skeletons declaring "these are all corpses"
The war has displaced 1.2million people inside the country and forced a further 400,000 to flee.
