IT took the 'Batsman' to save Belgium from being the latest big side to be bowled over in Qatar.

Michy Batshuayi revels in a nickname that bears shades of the Caped Crusader - and boss Roberto Martinez (inset) needed him to save the day.

It seems long enough ago that Junior Hoilett was breaking through the ranks at Blackburn that it was a surprise he was not down on the team sheet as "Senior".

FRE Yet with the rest of his Canadian team-mates, the 32-year-old set off with a spring in his step which put the team ranked second in the world on the back foot.

Canada's attack play was enthusiastic but lacking in real quality.

That did not, however, stop them from being dangerous.
