ERIK TEN HAG lives to fight another day - after edging one of the most spellbinding FA Cup semi-finals of all time.

That's the bottom line after Wembley witnessed a classic, chock-full of drama from first whistle to last, as the famous old competition served up a delicious reminder of why it needs to be protected.

At the end of more than two hours of frenetic action, it took a penalty shoot-out - and emotions in that veered from one extreme to the other as Mark Robins' men conjured up a comeback from nowhere to put the frighteners on the Manchester United manager.

Three goals up with a quarter of the game to go, the Premier League giants were cantering to the finishing line.

But, seemingly out of nowhere, Robins introduced fresh legs from the bench.
