"BUTCHERING" town hall chiefs felled trees to stop lovers romping under them.
Plymouth City Council sparked outrage earlier this year after axing 110 mature trees in the city.
But it has now admitted to felling more at a shelter on the famous Plymouth Hoe waterfront.
It cut down palms and bushes after workers had to "clean up sex and drug paraphernalia".
But locals are furious. One said: "What the hell is wrong with you.&nbsp;Leave our trees alone!" Another added: "They're obsessed with cutting down trees."
A town hall spokesman said the area experienced "anti-social behaviour, with council officers regularly having to clean up sex and drug paraphernalia".
He said "large shrubs, including cabbage palms" had been removed but would be replaced with new plants.
