E FRANKFURT 1
RANGERS 1
RANGERS missed out on European glory in the cruellest style possible last night.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men lost on penalties to Eintracht Frankfurt as Aaron Ramsey saw his spot-kick saved by Kevin Trapp.
They had taken a second-half lead through Joe Aribo but Santos Borre, who netted the winning penalty, equalised.
Rangers captain James Tavernier got the shootout off to a successful start and Steven Davis, Scott Arfield, and Kemar Roofe all netted too.
But Allan McGregor was unable to save from Christoper Lenz, Ajdin Hrustic, Daichi Kamada, Filip Kostic or Borre.
More than 100,000 Rangers fans had poured into Seville over the last few days-though only around 18,000 had tickets.
