ROOKIE cops are refusing to take part in police chases because they haven't been trained how to do it.
Long-serving officers also say lazy junior bobbies, like the ones in the hit film Hot Fuzz, are "risk assessing fights" before avoiding them.
The claims are made by force veterans on a social media site for cops. One told how a senior officer chased suspects on foot after they fled their vehicle. He said: "Walking back to his vehicle, he finds his Student Officer still sat in the police car! 'What were you doing?!, he said. 'I'm not pursuit trained, replied the Student Officer."
Other cops told how rookies are too afraid to break up brawls.
One said: "It's happened. Fight in the High Street everyone from the van gets out and gets stuck in. Student officer remained in the van. Sergeant to SO. 'Why did you stay in the van?! SO: 'I dynamically risk assessed the situation and decided it was too dangerous. WTF!"
Another said: "We were attending a fight outside a nightclub. As I pulled open the sliding door ready to jump out, a voice from the back shouted, 'don't go out there. There are too many, it's dangerous."
