"DISASTROUS" emergency funding cuts may be forced on councils - with some even going bust.

The cost-of-living crunch could see bin collections axed, school services reduced, leisure centres closed and roads and pavements in ruin.

A triple blow of spiralling inflation, high energy prices and increases to the National Living Wage is to blame.

It will add £2.4billion in extra costs to town-hall budgets this year.
