RADIO DJ Liz Kershaw has accused the BBC of ditching her because of her age.
She tweeted: "I got sacked from @BBC6Music because they don't want women over 60." Liz, 63, had replied to a post about a "petition to force Parliament to discuss how women are being erased from public services and institutions".
She had hosted a regular show for 17 years and was replaced by Jamz Supernova, 31, last year.
Liz had remained at the station to present another show, Legends In Their Own Lunchtime, but said she would no longer do that as she is "not wanted".
A BBC spokesman said: "All radio schedules evolve over time and after 16 episodes of Liz Kershaw's Legends In Their Own Lunchtime in the last year, we wanted to explore other musical stories.
"There were no other factors involved in the decision. We are proud to have a diverse range of presenters on TV and radio."
