The music icon would rather catch up on world affairs than neck pills and get drunk.
He said: "As soon as I'm finished on stage, I am back in the hotel room watching the news.
"I still have a pint, but I'd look pretty ridiculous at 61 if I was running around like at 20-odd." The Happy Mondays frontman&nbsp;still loves taking his music out to his adoring fans.
Ryder, who kicks off a Mondays tour in Glasgow on March 14, says his new mindset has helped him to settle down.
"I find it so easy. Maybe it's I'm&nbsp;not shoving loads of drugs down my neck, but it's just calming now, and I like it.
"I liked it back in the day when we was all mad and rock and roll. And I like it now."
