The birds and their blue tit cousins have gobbled billions of tiny worms killing horse chestnut trees.
They have been damaged by the grubs, which invaded 20 years ago, with warnings they could end the conker harvest by 2035.
The team behind the World Conker Championships, held last month in Northants, are delighted with the news.

A spokesman said: "This is the biggest news for years for tree lovers - we are rejoicing." Many trees faced being cut down by owners after their green leaves were left shrivelled and brown by a larvae, which grows in eggs laid inside the leaf by the leaf miner moth.
Experts say the grubs reduce trees' conker harvest, while the leaf miner larvae also make the&nbsp;trees more likely to be killed off by bleeding canker disease.
But great tits, blue tits, other birds and creepy crawlies have come to the rescue, munching their way through billions more grubs inside leaves this year.
Their actions have left leaves a lot greener and the trees are in much better health. Forestry experts say that the cold, late also spring helped to kill off leaf worms.
