PETER O'MAHONY last night promised Scotland they face a whole different ball game in this afternoon's Six Nations finale at the Aviva in Dublin.
"We're not playing tennis or golf," said the Irish skipper.
"It's a physical game and you've got to get stuck in. You've got to be on the edge." Both sides are reeling after shock defeats last weekend.
Scotland came a cropper in Rome when they took their foot off the gas and squandered a commanding 12-point lead to lose 29-31 to Italy.
That left Gregor Townsend's side facing a disappointing two-win record from this Six Nations campaign if they don't get a victory today.
Ireland's hopes of a Grand Slam hit the buffers at Twickenham when they lost 23-22 to an unheralded England team.
However, their form during the previous three games of the Championship against France, Italy and Wales means they remain in the driving seat to finish top of the table.
All they need to do is draw or pick up two bonus points against Scotland to finish ahead of the chasing pack.
