ORGANISERS of The Open Championship have vowed to crack down on golf ticket touts after a free child's pass was put up for sale at £1500.
More than one million people applied for tickets for The Open, which starts at St Andrews on July 14. But just 290,000 spectators will be allowed on to the Old Course during Open week most in the event's 150-year history.
Thousands of tickets appear to have flooded on to the market via dedicated sports internet sites and even on eBay.
On the Stub Hub re-sale site, two "general admission tickets for the final day are for sale at £3594 - despite the offer saying "face value £95". The price is made up of two times £1500, plus "fees" of £297.
