The vote passed the House of Commons by 515 to 29-a majority of 486 - in favour of the Stormont brake mechanism.
But 22 Tory MPs defied a three-line whip to vote against, including the former PMs, ex-leader lain Duncan Smith and former Cabinet ministers Priti Patel and Simon Clarke.
