MATT Hancock squealed as he was covered in slime and bugs, and arrived in camp to be told: "You are going to get it."

The MP, suspended by the Tory Party for going on I'm A Celeb, was humiliated on his first day.

Before he even met his campmates the former Health Secretary had to go underground for The Beastly Burrows Bushtucker Trial.

But arguably worse was to come.

His welcome from the other celebs was less than warm.

Labour supporting Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver appeared to be stunned by his appearance.

Laughing, singer Boy George then told Matt: "You're really going to get it. You're really going to get it. Not from me. I mean just from..." Later campmates laid into Matt, with several of admitting they could have quit the show when he entered.

Charlene White questioned the wisdom of him coming in when the Government has been stable "for five minutes".

Boy George said his mum got ill with Covid and he would be unable to sit near him if anything had happened to her.

Sue said Matt "sticks out like a sore thumb" but agreed with George that the shamed politician must be nervous about the show.

Charlene asked Matt why he was taking part and he said: "There's so few ways in which politicians can show that we're human beings.
