IAN MURRAY is looking forward to Championship football with Raith - little more than a week after the agony of missing out on the league with Airdrie.

ROVERS ROLE LIFTS MURRAY

The former Scotland, Rangers and Hibs defender has been named Rovers' new boss on a two-year deal after three-and-a-halfyears at the Diamonds.

Murray had almost three terms in the Championship with Dumbarton but lasted just six months in the division with St Mirren before resurrecting his managerial career with Airdrie in League One.

The 41-year-old could well have stayed in charge in Lanarkshire had they not lost their play-off final to Queen's Park 10 days ago.

But he is thrilled to have the opportunity to work again in the second tier after succeeding John McGlynn at Stark's Park.
