LOW-INCOME pensioners will be able to more easily apply for a free TV licence under plans to cut red tape.

Over-75s on pension credit will no longer have to fill out a form to save them the £159-a-year fee.

The law change will allow the BBC to verify eligibility automatically with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
