GPs are squeezing in more patients than ever as the number of practices declines and the population grows.

Population growth takes a toll as GP numbers fall

Figures show the average size of a general practice patient list in Scotland has increased in two years, with each of the 922 practices having an average of 153 extra patients since 2019-20.

Two years ago there were 5.77million patients. Now, with 5.8million patients, the average list size is 6324 per practice, compared with 6171 two years ago.
