COUNTRY IS PUT ON 'VERY HIGH' WARNING

PARTS of Scotland were yesterday placed on "very high" alert over the risk of wildfires.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) issued the warning as temperatures are likely to go above 25C (77F) in some areas until Monday.

The SFRS said southern and eastern Scotland were especially at risk of wildfires.

Water levels in reservoirs and rivers in parts of Scotland were said to be extremely low going into the latest spell of hot weather.
