THE number of monkeypox cases in Scotland has risen to 34 an increase of seven since the start of the week.
However, the vast majority of the UK's 1235 cases are in England, mostly centred around London.
Monkeypox is a zoonotic infection, caused by the monkeypox virus, which occurs mostly in west and central Africa.
The current outbreak has mainly been among gay, bisexual, and men who have sex with men without documented history of travel to endemic countries.
Wendi Shepherd, monkeypox incident director at UKHSA, said: "If you have a rash or blisters, stay at home, phone a sexual health clinic and please get tested.
