I'll run 1000 miles for my tragic pal

A RUNNER is hoping to break an ultramarathon world record in memory of his late friend who took his own life.

Chris Thomson, 33, is challenging himself to become the first and fastest person to ever run 32 gruelling marathons in all 32 council areas of Scotland within 32 days.

The adventurer will put his best foot forward from June 5 in a touching tribute to his pal, who committed suicide after battling mental health difficulties.

He will run 33 miles every day until July 6 to mark each year of his friend's life after he passed away at the age of 33.
