I want fourth Olympics to get family bragging rights

FROM triumph to trauma then tragedy.

The past 12 months for Eilish McColgan has been the cruellest rollercoaster plunging from the very peak of her powers to an unwelcome and completely unexpected low.

Now though Scotland's queen of the 2022 Commonwealth Games is ready to start climbing again.

With Paris and grabbing a slice of Olympic history in her sights, 2024 is about elevating herself back to this time last year, when the 33-year-old was in the best shape of her life.

McColgan is battling towards full fitness following suffering a knee injury in training as she prepared to make her marathon debut in London.

In November her recovery was dealt a further sickening blow when stepfather John Nuttall, the former Olympic long-distance runner, died suddenly from a heart attack.

McColgan won't allow the pain to derail her ambitions though.
