DAVID MARTINDALE insists he’d love to take Livingston into Europe for only the second time in their history – and reckons this season offers as good a chance as any.

Not since 2002 have the Lions got their teeth into continental competition when Jim Leishman led them to a third place finish and a thrilling UEFA Cup qualifier against Sturm Graz which eventually ended 8-6 on aggregate to the Austrians.

Livi have come close to a return in each of the last three seasons - finishing fifth in 2020 when four teams qualified for Europe and then sixth a year later when five teams got through.

Last season they were pipped for a crack at the continent when an agonising injury-time goal from Mother well saw them drop out of the top six in the final minutes before the Premiership split.
