Firefighters injured in blaze at Jenners

A FIREFIGHTER was last night in a critical condition after tackling a blaze at Edinburgh's Jenners building, while four others have been treated in hospital.

Emergency services raced to the scene at about 11.30am yesterday after reports of a building on fire in Rose Street.

Eleven crews were still there last night fighting the blaze in the capital's New Town.

The former home of the iconic department store has lain empty for two years and has been undergoing restoration work after it was bought by Scotland's richest man, Anders Holch Povlsen.

Contractors were carrying out clearance work inside when the fire broke out.
