ERIK TEN HAG leapt to Marcus’ Rashford’'s defence after his transatlantic jaunt.
The in-form Manchester United striker flew to New York on a shopping trip last week after pulling out of Gareth Southgates England squad through injury.
That drew criticism from some quarters although Rashford is expected to be fit to start in the Reds visit to Newcastle tomorrow.
But Ten Hag not only approved of Ashford’s 6000-mile round trip but believes he has already seen the benefits from it.
The Old Trafford boss said: It’s positive that he was on a break.
