ENGLAND'S Ashes plans have been thrown into chaos before a ball has been bowled with Jack Leach ruled out with a stress fracture.
Leach complained of lower back soreness on day three of the Test against Ireland and left the field for about half an hour during the morning session.
And when the pain hadn't subsided the following morning, the 31-year-old was sent for a scan which revealed the extent of the injury.
It is desperately cruel luck for a player who has flourished more than any other under Ben Stokes' captaincy, and who was turned into a rock star when he felt like a roadie.
