DEPOSIT Return Scheme (DRS) operator Circularity Scotland has gone into administration.

The not-for-profit company was established by several drinks firms in 2020 to help implement Scotland’s DRS.

But the Record revealed last week how it faced a funding crisis as businesses pulled out.

Circular economy minister Lorna Slater faces renewed calls to resign over Circularity Scotland’s failure, and survived a vote of no confidence last night.

Circularity Scotland employed about 40 staff in anticipation of the scheme’s launch in August.
