A RECENT spike in Covid cases has left public health officials "concerned but not panicking", MSPs were told yesterday.
About one in 20 people in Scotland had the virus last week, Holyrood's Covid-19 recovery committee heard.
National clinical director Professor Jason Leitch told the committee that the spike was not unexpected, and said the public&nbsp;should consider using preventative measures and staying at home from work or education if they feel unwell.
Prof Leitch said: "Our advice remains pretty much the same, but you can tell our tone has changed in the last few weeks.
"It's about staying off if you're sick... reintroducing or thinking about face coverings, handwashing, surfaces."
He urged people to get a vaccination if they hadn't had one yet or take up the offer of a booster.
Leitch added: "Those are the key interventions. We're concerned but not panicking."
Tory MSP Murdo Fraser asked how many people knew what the Scottish Government's Facts Covid campaign acronym meant.
Prof Leitch said changing the campaign after the UK Government launched its "Hands, Face, Space" campaign was considered, but that marketing experts had ruled it would be counterproductive.
