PEOPLE in Scotland face conditions today with up to eight inches of snow in places after the country recorded its coldest March night in 13 years.

The Met Office issued a fresh weather warning yesterday affecting much of the east coast as well as northern and northeastern areas with another alert issued for the weekend.

A separate snow warning in southern Scotland is in effect until about 2pm today.

More snow is predicted across parts of the country this weekend.

It comes after Scotland recorded the coldest night of the year in the early hours of yesterday when temperatures dropped to a bone-chilling-16C in Altnaharra, Sutherland.
