JAMIE RITCHIE admitted a lack of discipline let Edinburgh down in South Africa as they lost 33-31 to the Bulls.
But the skipper insisted a slow start that saw the Gunners go 15-0 down and have a man sin-binned was not the reason they lost in the end.
A late Morne Steyn penalty put the Bulls in front two minutes from time before Edinburgh full-back Henry Immelman failed to score the winner with the last kick of the match from another penalty.
It was a case of so near and yet so far but Ritchie said: "We went into that game with three pillars we wanted to pride ourselves on - work rate, physicality and discipline.
