Special forces veteran helped fight Russians

BY CHRIS HUGHES A HERO British former special forces soldier has died fighting on the Ukraine front line.

Afghan War veteran Simon Lingard was believed to have spent months battling alongside Ukrainian troops after the Russian invasion in February.

The dad of two, known as "Grimmy" to his friends, was killed on Monday.

He was a former member of the Special Forces Support Group and had previously served with the 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment.

Revealing his death, one of his children said: "As most people are aware my dad, Simon Lingard (Grimmy), sadly lost his life in Ukraine on Monday.
