Dr Sophie Johnston, 35, disappeared from the Partick area of Glasgow at 8.30am on Monday.
Yesterday morning, police confirmed a body was found near Baldernock Crescent in Milngavie.
Formal identification was still to take place but police said Sophie's family&nbsp;have been informed. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
Sophie qualified in 2009 as a doctor at Edinburgh University and worked at the city's Royal Infirmary and Western General.
She also worked in Melbourne, Australia, where she became interested in sun damage.
She returned home in&nbsp;2015 to become a GP, later spending time in a hospital as a dermatology specialist.
Her cousin Euan Wilkie said online: "Thank you to everyone that shared our posts looking for Sophie.
"Unfortunately, she was found dead this morning.
We were all very lucky to have her in our family." Karolina Agur replied: "There are no words... Rest in Peace, beautiful Sophie.
