AS Kwasi Kwarteng was secretly recorded offering to work on the side for £10,000 a day, he also put forward what he thought was a very attractive proposition.
The shamed former chancellor, who earns an £84,000 salary as an MP, said he could arrange for foreign business people to meet Boris Johnson.
Kwarteng, who thought he was touting himself in a job interview with an overseas firm, called Johnson the "best campaigner you'll ever see".
After the fake businessman conducting the bogus interview said he was hoping to meet the former prime minister, Kwarteng said: "I'm sure you will.
"I mean, let's talk, I'm sure we can try and arrange that." In video footage of Kwarteng being duped by campaign group Led By Donkeys, he added: "I'm not promising anything but he's someone I know. He's a great guy."
Kwarteng also suggested that Conservative whips would let him bunk off Parliament to fly around the world on private business.
In the sham job interview with a made-up South Korean his "brief" firm, he trumpeted experience as Chancellor.
He said: "I would say [in] my generation in the UK, there are very few people who had the breadth of experience I've had across business and politics at this level."
Kwarteng was sacked as chancellor after just 38 days because his mini-Budget in September caused an economic meltdown.
