KILLER DRIVER CRASHED FLEEING COPS
A FATHER who killed his son in a horror car crash after driving at 137mph has been jailed for six years.
Craig Melville, 41, lost control of his Audi RS4 after accelerating away from police who tried to stop him.
His only child, apprentice mechanic Craig jnr, 16, died after the car hit a wall and split in to two parts. A 15-year-old girl was left with life-changing injuries following the crash on the B9176 near Alness, Easter Ross, in March 2021.
Ex-trucker Melville was yesterday&nbsp;sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to causing Craig jnr's death and serious injury to the girl by dangerous driving.
Judge Lord Fairley told him: "A substantial mitigating factor is the person killed was a much-loved family member. That will stay with you for the rest of your life.&nbsp;But the only sentence I can appropriately impose is imprisonment."
Melville, of Alness, was also banned from the road for 13 years.
