Putin ‘Survived Bid To Kill Him'

ASSASSINS tried to bump off Vladimir Putin shortly after he launched his war against Ukraine, it has been claimed.

Ukraine’s intelligence chief Major General Kyrylo Budanov only gave brief details but insisted it had happened.

The spy boss said Putin was “attacked... by representatives of the Caucasus” about two months ago.

The Caucasus is a region that includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and parts of southern Russia.

Maj Gen Budanov said: “[It was an] absolutely unsuccessful attempt, but it really happened.

“There was no publicity about this event, but it took place.”

If correct, it would be the only known attempt on the Russian president’s life since he launched the war against Ukraine on February 24.

The revelation came as the first war crimes trial ended with a guilty verdict.
