A GIANT footprint found on the Yorkshire coast belonged to an enormous meat-eating dinosaur.

Experts believe the 2.6ft footprint found in April 2021 was made by a "ferocious Megalosaurus-like dinosaur", which may have been squatting when it left its mark 166 million years ago.

The gigantic creature from the Jurassic Period had a possible hip height of between 8.2ft and 9.8ft, and is classed as a theropod, with three toes and claws on each limb.

The Yorkshire coast is renowned for its fossils, including thousands of dinosaur footprints, but this is the biggest found.
