Alan Coulson, 70, said his wife's savings have been wiped out since she was diagnosed with dementia.
Since Ann, also 70, moved into a care home in May 2022, the fees have risen from £800 a week to more than £1,000.
Alan, a former fitter, from Jarrow, Tyneside, blamed the Tories for delaying a promised cap on care fees.
