UNBEARABLE

BEREAVED families of the Grenfell Tower tragedy have called the wait for justice "unbearable" as a police probe is not set to result in potential charges until nearly a decade on.

Scotland Yard has been conducting a vast investigation into the 2017 inferno - with prosecutors due to need until the end of 2026 to make final decisions about any criminal charges.

But, as next month marks seven years on from the blaze which claimed 72 lives, a bereaved families and survivor group yesterday said: "We need to see the people who perpetrated Grenfell held to account and charged for their crimes.

"The wait is unbearable."

The Metropolitan Police says it is investigating 19 firms or organisations and 58 individuals as suspects.
